Will CIS Discontinue Intake of I- 485 Applications?

It is possible. Such an action would be illegal, but CIS has already stopped accepting I- 485 applications for another category known as "Other Workers," despite June Visa Bulletin showing that category is current. My advice to all of you is keep filing all through the month of July. For all we know, they may never issue such an illegal policy or they might lose a lawsuit filed against them. So keep filing.

Hello All,

I am an Indian citizen and a Permanent Resident of Canada. My Fiance is a US Citizen and we're planning to settle down soon. I also have a valid 10 year US B1/B2 Visa.

I know that if one marries a US Citizen you can get US Green Card but I am not sure about the processes. I want to know what is the best procedure so that I can be in the US quickly and also have my green card.

I know there is something known as Fiance visa but I'm not sure how it works.

Can anyone please elaborate and guide me into this situation.

My I-140 was submitted to USCIS in June, 2006 and got approved in August, 2006 and my employer has received the approval notice. I am checking the case status online but it is still showing up that my case is in pending till date. One of my friends is also in the same situation, his I-140 got approved recently and he received approval notice copy from attroney but the case did not update on the USCIS web site as approved. When I called USCIS, they told me that this needs to be reported by my lawyer and not me. When I talked to my attroney on this, she told me that we don't need to worry about this as the approval notice is available with us. But if the case update showing up correctly, atleast I could show that as a proof for my priority date portability if I switch the employer. Does anyone experienced the same problem and appreciate the suggestion as to how this can be corrected. Thanks in advance.

it states that if you filed after July 30, 2007 then a fee is no longer needed. My I-485 application was filed under the old fee structure. Does it still mean I can file without a fee.

I have valid SSN and B1 visa. My employer wants to me travel to US after getting confirmation on my project from US. My employer is willing to do a change of status while I will be in US.

1. Is it feasible or any process which US Immigration supports? Could anyone pls help me with any USICS link which details about the same i.e 'Change of Status'

2. Is there any risks involved in it provided the change of status is a legal process?
